Bangladesh plans to import 100,000 MT of wheat and 50,000 MT of non-basmati parboiled rice soon after a futile domestic procurement drive to boost food emergency stocks.
Bangladesh will issue a tender to import the wheat and rice by this month, said the official at the Food and Disaster Management Ministry.
The ministry launched a drive in November to procure 200,000 MT of rice by February but this appeared to have failed. So far, the ministry has collected only 36 MT of grains.
