The largest rice growing countries have decided to form their own cartel based on Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

This was stated by Chairman, Export Promotion Bureau of Pakistan who informed the process of forming membership of the countries has begun.

The group would include, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Thailand among others.

They would endeavor to refine the quality of their rice harvest and promote better exports for their product.
