Dominican Republic: Floods affect rice production

The floods in Cibao (Dominican Republic) affected the rice spring crop. The recent precipitations caused floods in the area with serious damages for the rice sector.

As reported even that the rice plants were flooded, a part of the crop were already harvested. A producer said that rains fall during last days were worse than expected.

The floods affected the farmers situation as they were already fighting with a loss of yield.

The Secretariat of Agriculture, rice producers millers and distributors are working to finish harvest to reduce at maximum damages caused by rains.
