According to Thailand's National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), three Thai rice species will soon be grown in a zero-gravity farm on board a Japanese Experiment Module in an international space program..

Pathum Thani 1, Rice Jasmine 105, Kor Khor 6 breeds and a Japanese rice breed will be tested on board Kibo Module how well they can cope with harsh surroundings in which illumination, temperature, ultraviolet and carbon-dioxide would be constantly altered.
