Pakistan July-Feb Rice Exports Up On Year

According to official figures, Pakistani rice exports have fetched $1.4 billion during first eight months of the current fiscal year July to February 2009-10, as compared to $1.2 billion in the same period last fiscal year.

2,829,503 MT of Pakistani rice has been exported in July to February 2009-10, as compared to 1,801,399 MT last fiscal year, showing an increase of 1,028,104 MT. Rice exports last fiscal year 2008-09 stood at 3.2 million MT.

Rice exports were above $2 billion in fiscal year 2008-09 for the second consecutive year. Total value of exports was $2.044 billion with basmati and non-basmati each having a share of over $1 billion.
