Nigeria Suspends Duties On Rice Imports

The Nigerian government has decided to suspend import duty on rice for the next six months in an effort reduce the cost of the commodity in the country.

The Nigerian government had announced on April 29 that it would import 500,000 MT of rice as a short-term measure to ensure that the country meets all its food requirements.

Nigeria doesn't produce enough rice, which has become a popular staple food, to feed its population of about 140 million.
