President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf arranged the grant three years ago in Ghana with a subsequent follow-up during her visit to the Republic of Japan recently.

The grant is part of regular donations from the Government of Japan to some needy countries most especially in the West African sub-region.

Deputy Commerce Minister received the grant, valued at US$3.3 million; Frederick B. Norkeh who expressed thanks and appreciation to the donor and assured that the rice will be used for the purpose intended.
