Dr Steve Linscombe

Dr Steve obtained his Ph.D in 1982 from Mississippi State Univ., Mississippi State in the field of Agronomy - Plant Breeding and Genetics. He completed his M.S. in 1979 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge and B.S. in 1976 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. He has held several prestigious and key research positions throughout his career. From December 2001 to date, he is the Regional Director, Southwest Region; Resident Coordinator, Rice Res. Stn. His responsibilities include Administrator of all LSU AgCenter research and extension activities in the Southwest Region and Administrator of the Rice Research Station. Since June 1988 till date, he is also senior rice breeder and geneticist, LSU AgCenter, Rice Research Station, Crowley, LA. From 1986 to 1988;, he was the Associate Specialist, LSU AgCenter, La. Coop. Extn. Serv., Baton Rouge, LA. He has received several awards including Doyle Chambers Research Award by the LSU AgCenter (2012); He is also a member of the American Society of Agronomy, Crops Registration Committee Member; Rice Registration Sub-committee Chairman; Membership Committee, 1984-87 and Reviewer of Louisiana Association of Agronomy. His international assignments took him to various areas of rice breeding such as Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Suriname, Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Italy, Spain, France, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Philippines, China, England, Ukraine, India etc.
