Thai Prices Steady Thursday On Strong Demand
By Oryza News on June 08,2007
In Thailand, strong demand on the local market from exporters who need to fulfill outstanding contracts have been supporting export prices. "There have been many inquiries in the market, but buyers are waiting for prices to come down," one exporter said. A second exporter said tight local supply due to recent heavy rains is also providing support. "We expect prices to soften next month when there's more paddy available to millers," a second exporter said. Thursday, Thai 100% grade B rice was offered unchanged at $333-$335 a metric ton, FOB Bangkok; 5% broken was offered flat at $324-$325/ton; parboiled 100% sortexed was offered around $330/ton versus $324-$333/ton.
