Thai Prices Little Changed Amid Thin Trade

By Oryza News on May 04,2007

In Thailand, the market was mostly quiet as no importers showed an interest to buy. But pending shipments to fulfill outstanding contracts have been keeping most suppliers busy. These contracts involve shipments bound for Iran, Iraq, China, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia.

Outstanding contracts, alongside a strong Thai baht, will prevent prices from falling sharply in the coming weeks. Thai 100% grade B was offered Thursday at $323-$325 PMT, FOB Bangkok, and 5% broken at $312-$315 PMT, while parboiled 100% sortexed was offered at $315-$320 PMT. These prices were little changed from prices offered Wednesday.
