Thai Prices Steady On Firm Export Demand
By Oryza News on June 04,2007
Thailand's rice export prices were offered unchanged Friday, with prices in Thailand being supported by firm export demand. According to Bangkok-based traders, several vessels have come to Bangkok to load rice for outstanding contracts. Strong demand in the local market from exporters who need to fulfill these contracts have been working to support export prices. Most buyers have returned to the Thai market as offers in Vietnam, its main competitor in rice export trade, are at high levels. A prevailing tightness in Vietnam could further boost prices. Thai 100% grade B was offered unchanged Friday at $331-$333/ton, FOB, Bangkok, 5% broken was offered at $320-$322/ton, while parboiled 100% sortexed was offered at $324-$331/ton.
