Thai Rice Export Prices Nearly Unchanged Friday

By Oryza News on May 07,2007

Rice export prices were steady at high levels Friday amid limited trading, as despite thin trade, Thai export prices were drawing support from strong demand in the local market as suppliers are rushing to buy paddy for shipment abroad.

Most of these vessels are bound for Indonesia and Iran. A second exporter said an industry convention next week could draw buyers and boost prices in the local market. Many traders will be coming to Bangkok for the conference. There might be some new deals happening next week and prices could possibly go up. Thai 100% grade B was offered unchanged Friday at $323-$325 PMT, FOB, Bangkok, while 5% broken was offered at $312-$315 PMT and parboiled 100% sortexed was offered at $315-$320 PMT.
