In Vietnam, prices were unchanged Wednesday on a strong domestic market as farmers are about to complete harvesting of the main crop. According to exporters, fresh supply from the main crop will be used mainly to fill in contracts with foreign buyers.

Vietnam's 5% broken was offered steady Wednesday at $297-$300 PMT, FOB, Ho Chi Minh City, while 25% broken was offered at $285 PMT. In other news, Thai rice exporters expect to sign several deals with Iranian buyers during the Thai Rice Convention 2007 this week, Thai Rice Exporters Association president Chookiat Ophaswongse said earlier this week.

Iran imported 650,000 PMT of Thai rice in 2006 and is expected to buy up to 800,000 MT in 2007 to ensure supplies during its conflict with the West over its nuclear ambitions.
