Thailand Weekly Export Price Highlights

Thailand rice export prices witnessed a decline by 1-2 % due to the weakening Thai baht. The January’s enquiries have yet to be concluded as the government’s stock release plan remains unclear. The biweekly benchmark prices for February 1-15 are lower than the previous period.
Unofficial rice exports (excluding fragrant rice) for January 25-31, 2010 totaled 104,448 MT, down 32,860 MT from the previous week, and down 26,778 MT from the four-week moving average of 131,222 MT. Exports of white rice and parboiled rice during January 1-31, 2010 totaled 525,904 MT, up 22.9 % from 427,768 MT in the previous year.
According to the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, total rice exports including fragrant rice) during Jan. 1-25, 2010 amounted to 590,904 MT, up 17.4 % from 203,50 MT in the previous year.
