Thai Rice Prices Slightly Lower Amid Lack Fresh Demand

By Oryza News on April 24,2007

Thai rice prices were slightly lower Monday from two weeks ago as local supply continued to rise amid the ongoing harvest of a major crop. Market participants are waiting for the Thai Rice Convention to be held in
Bangkok on May 11-12 to sign new deals.

Most exporters have completed their loading activities to fulfill outstanding contracts, so demand for exports in the local market isn't strong. Thai 100% grade B was offered little changed at around $323 PMT, FOB Bangkok,
and 5% broken lower at $315 PMT compared to $317 PMT most of last week. Parboiled 100% sortexed was offered little changed at $320 PMT.
