Vietnamese Rice Export Prices Fall On Local Supplies

By news desk on July 31,2008

Vietnamese rice export prices fell by almost 10% in the week ending Wednesday as farmers accelerated the collection of paddy rice boosting local supplies.

Also even though the Vietnamese government has not clearly said when the export tax announced July 22 will go into effect, exporters are trying to push prices down to offset the tax's impact.

Vietnam is estimated to have exported 350,000 MT of rice valued at $340 million in July, down 42.2% on year in terms of volume but up 68.3% in terms of value.
