Philippine Rice Prices Likely To Remain Stable

Despitre the ongoing drought in four major rice producing areas in Philipplines, Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap has said  that rice prices are lilely to remain stable for now.

An agriculture sector insider warned on Thursday a drought could hurt the country’s grain output, and could drive the prices of rice, corn and even poultry products even higher.

Four regions of the country namely, Ilocos, Caga­yan Valley, Central Luzon and Bicol—are beginning to feel the effects of the dry spell.


Indusrty observers have also warmed that a prolonged dry spell could impact on the palay planting season next year.
