Indian Ban To Affect Prices In UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to face a hike in rice prices after India decided to implement a ban on non Basmati varety of rice in order to cater its domestic market.

According to observers, prices of non-basmati rice are to go up by 10-25 % due to the shortage of the Indian varieties following the ban as there was a shortage of non-basmati rice in the market following the ban.

The appreciation of Indian currency is another factor, which is likely to contribute to price rise of Indian products in UAE .
