Thailand Agrees To Sell 180,00 MT White Rice To Iran

Thailand has agreed to sell 180,000 MT of 100% grade B white rice to the Iranian government, Thai Commerce Minister Krirkkrai Jirapaet said Wednesday.

The sale is part of the government-to-government program, under which Thailand targets to sell 1.0 million MTof rice this year. Thailand's targeted buyers under the program include Indonesia, the Philippines, Iran and Cuba.

Thai government has so far sold a total 600,000 MT of rice under the government-to-government program this year.

The government-to-government rice selling program will enable Thailand to achieve its 2007 rice export target of 8.5 million MT. Rice exporters aim to sell a total 7.5 million MTof rice this year.
