Peru Rice Dealers Request To Export To Colombia And Ecuador

The president of the Rice Producers Association of Peru, Luis Zúñiga,
requests to the Agriculture Ministry of his country that accelerates the
authorizations from export to Ecuador and Colombia, since at the moment
illegal contraband operations are carried out.

Zúñiga assured that in 2006 300 thousands TA went of contraband rice towards
Ecuador and Colombia, among other countries.

Total rice consumption in Ecuador is 1 million 450 thousands TA to the year,
whereas in Colombia is 2 million TA.
