Brazilian Export Ban To Help USA

By news desk on April 25,2008

According to global rice experts, The United States should see an increase in global rice demand following the announcement of temporary halt in export sales from Brazil.

Haiti and countries in western African nations that had planned to buy from Brazil may now shift their purchases to the U.S as both the countries have traditionally been selling rice to the same countries.

Global rice prices have climbed to record highs recently as a host of countries have curbed their export sales, leaving the world to fight over a smaller available supply. Major producers, including Vietnam, India and Egypt, have restricted their export business to ensure adequate domestic supplies.
