Ecuador: Drought damages 100,000 hectares of rice

In Ecuador rice and maize producers holds different positions in front the possible declaration of emergency urged to the Ecuadorian government the farming unions.

Drought has damaged 100,000 hectares of rice and maize crops. Rice producers maintain a position against because the price of this cereal is high at the moment by the shortage of supply.

Nevertheless, maize producers demand the declaration to obtain aids from the government to revive their crops.
