Public sector trading company MMTC on Monday invited bids for sale of 53,000 MT of yellow peas (white matar) in the domestic market as part of efforts by the government to rein in pulses prices. The yellow peas, for which bids have been invited, are in the process of import, the company said in the tender.

MMTC said bidders would have to buy a minimum of 1,000 MT. The company is importing 35,000 tonnes of yellow peas at Vishakhapatnam and Kolkata from Canada and 18,000 MT at Kolkata port from France. The cargo would land by next month.
The last date of submission of tender is April 11 and bids would also be opened on the same date, the company said.
