Barring a fall in rice basmati common, other commodities ruled flat on the wholesale grains market on Wednesday. Arrivals and offtake too remained at a low ebb and the volume of business was poor.
Marketmen said, increased arrivals against lack of buying support from stockists mainly helped rice basmati common prices to soften. In the rice section, rice basmati common prices eased to Rs 3,750-3,950 against yesterday's closing price of Rs 3,800-4,000 a quintal.
The following were Wednesday's quotations in Rs per quintal:
Rice basmati (Lal Quila) 5,000, Shri Lal Mahal 4,800, Basmati common 3,750-3,950, Permal raw new 1,180-1,240, old 870-900, permal wand 1,350-1,400, sela 1,525-1,600 and rice IR-8 1,100-1,125, Bajra 700-705, Jowar 740-765 (yellow), Maize 810-825 Barley (UP) 805-810 and Rajasthan 645-655.
