According to the latest figures released by the Russian government, Russia has harvested 536,000 MT of rice to Oct. 8 on 107,000 hectares which is almost 92% of the total area to be harvested, with an average yield of 5.44 MT a hectare.

The Russian government had introduced a EUR70 PMT import duty for rice this year in order to restrict imports and stimulate domestic production, which has resulted in an increased planted area and a higher yield.

Last year on the same date, the harvest was 342,000 MT on 76,500 hectares with the average yield of 5.05 MT/hectare.
