Guyana’s Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud has assured Guyana’s rice farmers that their rice will be bought, following concern that the country is encountering difficulties with its export market.

According to sources, based on his communication with Jamaica’s Trade Minister Karl Samuda, the Jamaican government seems inclined to buy from Guyana and remains committed to ensure that their importers source their supplies accordingly.

Meanwhile aggressive moves are also being made by Guyana to enter non-traditional markets, like Panama in Central America, and Poland in Europe as well as Africa.
