Since February, Vietnam has exported over three million tons of rice at record prices as domestic farmers are expecting bountiful harvests and global demand is poised to grow. During the last two months, 10, 15 and 25 percent broken rice have accounted for 96 percent of the total turnover in exported rice.

Some 80 percent of total exports were made up of the 15 percent broken price, fetching US$310 PMT, up $64 from the same time last year.

The price on 25 percent broken rice was reportedly at $308 PMT, a rise of $33 from the corresponding period last year. Ten percent broken rice saw a price surge of $127 PMT from February 2006 to $443.
