Vietnam Rice Export Value Jumps Amid Low Volumes

According to a recent report released by Vietnam's Trade Information Center, Vietnam earned around US $2.4 billion from rice exports in the first nine months of this year, up nearly 90 % against last year thanks to the price hike in the global market.

As the prices skyrocketed, the country exported a mere 3.7 million MT during that period, down 7.4 % in volume.

On a track of good performance so far this year, the Vietnam Food Association forecasts that the country can export another 1 million MT of rice by the end of the year, bringing the yearly figure to 4.6-4.7 million MT.
