Thailand Jan 1-May 16 Rice Exports 3.02 Million MT

Thailand's rice exports from Jan. 1 to May 16 rose by 10.8% on year to 3.02 million metric tons, the Commerce Ministry's Department of Foreign Trade said Wednesday. Rice exports from May 1-16 totaled 360,177 tons, up 3.8% on year. 
 
The Department of Foreign Trade didn't provide a reason for the increase in rice exports. The following table shows Thailand's rice exports from Jan. 1 to May 16 compared with a year earlier. Figures are in metric tons. 
 
Thailand is the world's largest rice exporter.
