Thailand Jan 1-May 24 Rice Exports Up

Thailand's rice exports from Jan. 1 to May 24 rose 12.5%
on year to 3.20 million metric tons, the Commerce Ministry's Department of
Foreign Trade said Friday.
 
  Rice exports from May 1-24 totaled 540,642 tons, up 15.9% on year.
 
  The Department of Foreign Trade didn't provide a reason for the increase in
exports.
 
  The following table shows Thailand's rice exports from Jan. 1 to May 24
compared with a year earlier. Figures are in metric tons.
 
  Thailand is the world's largest rice exporter.
