By news desk on August 08,2008

Rice shipments from Thailand, the world's top exporter, are likely to slow to 500,000 to 600,000 MT per month in the second half of this year from 900,000 to 1 million MT a month in the first half.

According to president of the Thai Rice Exporters Association, Chookiat Ophaswongse, the fall in rice exports in the latter half of this year was expected as most buyers have already piled up their stocks during the first half, while Vietnam resumed exporting rice at comparatively cheaper price.
