Thailand Rice Exports Likely To Cross 10 Mil MT Mark

According to Thai industry officials, rice exports from Thailand, the world's top supplier, could reach 10 million MT this year, higher than earlier projections of 9.5 million MT.

Accordingt to Chookiat Ophaswongse, president of the Thai Rice Exporters Association, Thailand has already exported 5.97 million MT in the first half of the year and needs to export only around 700,000 MT a month to reach a total export volume of 10 million MT.

For the parboiled market alone, monthly exports could reach 400,000 MT as India continues to implement a ban on non-basmati grain, Chookiat said.
