By news desk on April 01,2008

Thailand's rice exports are likely to fall sharply in the coming months as most suppliers are sidestepping new deals for fear of incurring losses due to the sharp hike in the domestic paddy prices.

This could further restrict export supplies worldwide as other major exporting nations such as Vietnam and India have already taken steps to limit export shipments.

According to experts, the anticipated demand from major Thai buyers such as Iran and Indonesia, which are yet to buy this year, could further boost export prices in Thailand.

Thailand is the world's largest rice exporter.
