Sri Lanka: Government Releases 60,000 MT To Control Prices

In a move to counter the rising prices, the Sri Lankan government has decided to release 60,000 MT of paddy to the market from the stores with immediate effect.

According to the government sources, the the harvest of the Yala season crop could take some time to hit the stores and so it was necessary to release these stocks to counter the temporary price hike.
