The Philippines National Food Authority, NFA, is likely to announce a tender for portions of a rice import quota of 141,440 MT to be held on May 27.

At the tender, NFA will invite applications from companies for quotas to import up to 141,440 MT of rice at a minimum service fee of two pesos per kilogram.

Private-sector importers who offer to pay the highest service fee are likely to be given priority in the issuance of quotas.

The total 163,000 tons is divided into country-specific quotas under an agreement with the World Trade Organization.
