Philippines Not To Lift Rice Import Quota

The Philippines government has decided to maintain its import quota on rice despite the recent surging prices in both local and global markets.

The Philippines and South Korea are the only countries that set limits on the amount of rice they can import for a year to protect local farmers from an influx of cheaper grain.
