Philippines Not To Consider Additional Imports

Taking a completely different stand from its earlier plan to increase rice imports following the severe drought, Philippines government may now decide against additional rice imports due to ample supplies of the grain in the local market.

According to Philippines Agriculture Secretary, the country's NFA (National Food Authority), a state-owned grains trading firm, is expected to have around 34 days worth of rice stocks based on a daily consumption base of 32,000 MT.
