Philippines To Consider Additional Rice Imports

The lower-than-expected paddy rice output caused by the on going drought situation has forced  Philippines to increase its rice imports for the current year.

Although the government determines quotas for rice imports each year to protect local prices and the quota for this year has almost been filled, additional imports are likely to exceed 70,000 MT.
