Pakistan Hopeful Of Exporting 1 Mil MT This Year

The Pakistani government is planning to export 1 million MT of rice this year and has allowed state-run Trading Corporation of Pakistan to procure this amount from the market.

According to Azhar Akhtar, chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, Pakistan's rice production will be 16% higher this year at 7.1 million MT, of which 2 million MT will be basmati and the remainder secondary basmati and Irri-6.
