Malaysia imports rice from the US

Malaysia imports rice from the United States, but only in small quantities, the Dewan Negara was told today. Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Parliamentary Secretary Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim said Malaysia’s import of rice from the US between January and March this year was 171.60 MT worth RM693,887.60.

The imported rice was of the Calrose variety, she said in reply to a question by Senator Datuk Wira Syed Ali Alhabshee, who wanted to know how much rice was imported from the US.
