Indonesia Rice Output Up 4.8 % On Year

According to preliminary figures released by Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics, the country's unhusked rice output recorded an increase of 4.8 % on year to reach 57.05 million MT in the year 2007.

The increase was attributed to a 2.9 % rise in planted areas and 1.8 % increase in productivity per hectare. The bureau has also forecast unhusked rice output to increase further to reach 58.27 million MT for the current year.
