The work plan for 2007 in rice is expected to be formulated along with the release announcement of new rice varieties suitable for cultivation in different agro-climatic zones at a key meeting in Hyderabad, India.

The 42nd Annual Rice Research Group, which attracts around 500 rice scientists from across the country will be organised by the Directorate of Rice Research (DRR), here during April 9-11, 2007.

The work carried out at more than 100 rice research centres during 2006 will be reviewed by the scientists at the meeting to be held at the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU).

Some of the leading rice experts from India and abroad would also deliver lectures on frontier areas of rice research. The technical programme for the coordinated rice research in the country would also be finalised after the three-day meeting, according to a press release from the DRR.
