By news desk on September 04,2008

India's central government had decided to allow the exportation of a premium variety of non-basmati rice, PUSA-1121, beginning Oct. 15.

Exports of the variety, PUSA-1121, will be allowed only if the FOB price is at least $1,200 PMT, the government said in a statement late Wednesday.

India had imposed a ban on non-basmati rice exports earlier this year to improve domestic supplies and curtail rising inflation.
