Bangladesh: Bumper Boro Rice Production Expected in Borga

Farmers of Borga the district are expecting bumper production of Boro paddy this season as they have brought more land under cultivation exceeding the target. Department of Agricultural Extension sources said some 190,000 hectares of land have been brought under Boro farming exceeding the target of 189,000 hectares.

Of the total land, some 162,000 hectares were brought under high yielding Ufshi variety while the rest under local variety. Agriculture officials said they have ensured supply of quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other necessary inputs among the farmers at fair prices to make the programme a success. Farmers said, they are expecting bumper production due to favourable weather.
