By news desk on January 18,2010

Rice production in the state of New South Wales in Australia has been given a boost with a 3 % increase in general security water allocation for Murray and Murrumbidgee irrigators taking the total general security water allocation to 13 % for Murray valley irrigators and 18 % for Murrumbidgee Valley farmers.

The Ricegrowers' Association of Australia has welcomed the announcement by NSW Office for Water commission David Harriss, saying the recent extremely hot weather had pushed growers' water use to the full extent of available water.
