Nigeria To Import 500,000 MT

Nigeria's state television has reported that the country is likely to import 500,000 MT of rice immediately as a short-term measure to ensure its domestic food requirements.

According to the report, the decision to import rice was reached after a meeting in Abuja by President Umaru Yar'Adua and state governors on the global food crisis.
