Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria has expressed his government’s readiness to assist Nigeria in the mechanization of agriculture to boost food production especially in the rice-farming sector.

Talking to the director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), the Israeli Ambassador promised to continue assistance to the NIMET in the area of agricultural meteorology, noting that agriculture was weather dependent.

He recalled that relations between both countries dated back to 1962, adding that staff of the agency had benefited immensely from Israel’s training programmes. He further solicited the country’s support to enable NIMET to function more effectively.
