High Prices Force Liberia To Reduce Tax

Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has proposed to suspend Government's US$2 tax levy on a bag of rice in order to counter the increase in the domestic rice prices.

Rice prices in Liberia have increased dramatically in recent months leaving the vast majority of the population, who eat the commodity as their staple, to point accusing fingers at both the Government and the importers of the hike in the price of the commodity.
